What you get from it
What it does
The aeo-prompt-question-finder skill runs a simple but effective trick: it prepends common question words (what, how, why, should, can, does, is, when, where, which, will, are, do) to your seed topic, then queries Google's unofficial autocomplete endpoint (suggestqueries.google.com/complete/search) for each combination. The result is a list of real, live suggestions showing exactly what questions people are typing into Google about that subject.
For example, running it on "protein powder" returns phrases like "what protein powder is best for muscle gain" or "how much protein powder per day." No API key required for the core functionality.
An optional --volume flag extends this by pulling average monthly search volumes via DataForSEO, reading credentials from macOS Keychain or environment variables. You can also override the default modifier set, adjust request delays, or output results as JSON for programmatic pipelines.
Who should use it
Content strategists, SEO specialists, and anyone doing Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) research who needs quick visibility into the specific phrasing people use when searching. It's particularly useful for brainstorming article titles, FAQ sections, or understanding user intent before writing copy.
Setup surface
Requires Python 3 and access to run scripts locally. Place the skill in your OpenClaw workspace and invoke:
python3 scripts/find_questions.py "your topic here"
No dependencies beyond standard library for basic operation. Volume lookup requires DataForSEO account setup.
Runner test plan
Static analysis of script logic; verify network calls respect documented rate limits; confirm JSON output format matches expectations; check credential handling for volume mode; ensure graceful failure when offline or blocked.
Risk notes
Google Autocomplete is an unofficial endpoint — heavy batching without delays risks temporary IP blocks. Single-topic runs (roughly 10 requests) are considered safe per documentation. Search volume data depends on third-party service availability and your account status. Results reflect current autocomplete state, not guaranteed rankings or traffic predictions.
