What you get from it

Open-bridge is a git repo of plain markdown and YAML files that Claude Code, Codex, or Copilot CLI reads at the start of every session, so your repos, clients, open tasks, and the work log from the day before are already in context. MIT-licensed, no database or hosted service required, with a runnable demo you can inspect before setting anything up.

What it is

Open-bridge is a self-owned context layer for coding agents: a plain git repo of markdown and YAML that agent CLIs (Claude Code, Codex, Copilot CLI) read at session start. Instead of re-explaining your repos, clients, and open tasks every morning, the agent picks up from files like a work log and a task board that live in a private repo you own. No database and no hosted service are involved.

Why it's useful

  • Session continuity: open tasks, client context, and the previous work log are in the agent's context from the first message.
  • Built for multiple clients or roles: the target user is a solo operator or small consultancy running several repos and clients with coding agents. The project README is honest that a single-repo worker probably only needs a CLAUDE.md file.
  • Try before you set up: the repo ships a runnable demo (examples/agency). Clone it, run claude, codex, or copilot inside the demo folder, and ask where you left off; every answer comes from plain markdown you can open side by side.

Access and setup

  • License: MIT, verified in the repository LICENSE file.
  • Requires an agent CLI installed locally (for example npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code), then follow docs/install.md in the repo for the setup path.
  • Official docs site returned HTTP 200 at check time: https://bks-lab.github.io/open-bridge/

Caveats

  • Very new: first posted to Hacker News Show HN today with little community traction so far. Claims about daily production use come from the maintainers themselves and are not independently verified.
  • No hands-on testing by LinkLoot; the setup path, demo, and limits above are taken from the project README and docs.
  • Do not push from the demo clone; it points at the public repo.
